The lateral line is complete or nearly so with (61)63-70(72) scales. There are (16)17-20(21) scales above the lateral line and 22-25(27) circumpeduncle scales. There are (11)12(13) dorsal spines, (12)13-14 dorsal rays, 2 anal spines, (7)8-9 anal rays and (13)14(15) pectoral rays. This species is overall drab, mostly olive to yellow-olive, with a pale blue breast and red spots on the body. The pelvic and pectoral fins are pale yellow or orange distally *4205*. Reproduction: The life history of this species is largely unknown *4205*. Spawning is probably similar to E. camurum and hybridization occurs with E. rufilineatum *4205*.
