
The 2008 fall meeting and 50th anniversary celebration of the Virginia Herpetological Society was a huge success! We would like to thank Joy Ware and Virginia Commonwealth University for for hosting the event and their gracious hospitality. Thanks to our keynote speaker and co-author of Turtles of the Southeast, Dr. Kurt Buhlmann for his presentation on turtle conservation. 
We would also like to thank members, Joe Mitchell and Steve Roble for their excellent presentation on the history of the VHS, Chris Burkett for his presentation of Virginia's Wildlife Action Plan, Jonathan Sleeman for his presentation on Aural Abscesses in Eastern Box Turtles, All the student presenters and poster authors, Lou Verner and Tim Christensen for Sunday's WildlifeMapping Workshop and last, but not least we thank all members that were able to attend.
Congratulations to Jason Gibson for being voted Member of the Year. Jason is a long-term, very active member and the creator and organizer of the yearly Herp Blitz surveys. |

Sparing no expense, the VHS presented Steve Roble with a Honorary Lifetime Membership for all his work as Editor of Catesbeiana and frequently one of the main contributing authors. |
Paul "Yoda" Sattler received the Virginia Herpetological Society's Lifetime Achievement Award for many years of active service. Paul has been one of the main pillars of the VHS, serving in several officer positions and as Editor of Catesbeiana. |
