ORIGINATOR (Owner/Agency) Arizona Game and Fish Department
DATABASE NAME Heritage Data Management System
DATABASE ACRONYMS HDMS
DATABASE ABSTRACT (A brief summary of the data set):
The data set consists of locality-related dta for 1) native animals and plants with special status or are otherwise ecologically sensitive and 2) selected sensitive habitats of Arizona.
PURPOSE OF THE DATABASE:
The purpose of the database is to keep track of the occurrence and ecological status of sensitive animals, plants, and habitats of Arizona.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION (Agency Mandate, etc.):

DATE RANGE OF RECORDS:1800 - 1996, present
IS DATA CONTINUOUS? (Yes or No): Yes
EXPLAIN GAPS IN THE DATA:
Yes, however, financial and staff constraints often means that highest priority is put on processing data since about 1960 (depending on species). Thus data from earlier dates is processed erratically depending on staff time available or agency needs.

HOW OFTEN IS THE INFORMATION UPDATED?
Continually Updated
Irregularly Updated
WHEN WAS THE LAST UPDATE?:
COMMENTS ON UPDATE STATUS:
Irregularly - as data comes in.

SPATIAL DOMAIN OF DATA SET
(Lat/Long coordinates, State/Region, etc.):

Generally within the box bounded by 37 degrees N Lat and 109 degrees W Long; 31 degrees N Lat and 115 degrees W Long; and 37 degrees N Lat and 115 degrees W Long.

DATA ACCURACY:
DATA QUALITY INFORMATION (How accurate is the information?):
Geographic accuracy: To minute or second of latitude or longitude. Identification accuracy: 1) Preferably based on professional ID of specimen, photograph, or other clearly or uniquely identifiable sign, remains, or part. 2) Reports by knowledgable, field experienced individuals recognized within their discipline as reliable observers. 3) Depending on element reports of a constellation of identifying characteristics that are acceptable within the appropriate discipline.
QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES USED:
1) Biologically trained staff receive and evaluate data, checking with observers and other experienced biologists when appropriate; 2) Senior experienced biological staff review and enter processed data into database; 3) Database records cross-checked and back-checked when updated or new data received; 4) Database records provided to experts in several different ways and times for review and spotcheck.
ATTRIBUTE ACCURACY, LOGICAL CONSISTENCY, COMPLETENESS & LINEAGE:
