DATABASE ABSTRACT (A brief summary of the data set): A set of related biological and conservation data files, which track biological data such as taxonomy, distribution, abundance, habitat requirements, quality, condition, and viability; and non-biological data such as land-ownership, land-use and management, and threats to species or their habitats. PURPOSE OF THE DATABASE: To manage information on the status and distribution of species, and to a lesser extent, communities; primarily those which are rare on the Navajo Nation. DATE RANGE OF RECORDS: 1856 - 1996, present IS DATA CONTINUOUS? (Yes or No): No EXPLAIN GAPS IN THE DATA:   Very spotty before mid-1980's. Records older than that are usually herbarium or museum citations.

WHEN WAS THE LAST UPDATE?:   COMMENTS ON UPDATE STATUS:   Whenever we get new information, sometimes daily; we might go a month at the longest without updating.   SPATIAL DOMAIN OF DATA SET (Lat/Long coordinates, State/Region, etc.):   East = 1065230; West = 1132230; South = 341500; North = 373000 Navajo Nation including satellite reservations and tribally owned ranches. Satellite reservations include Ramah, Alamo and Canoncito - all in New Mexico.
