DATA ACCURACY:
DATA QUALITY INFORMATION (How accurate is the information?):
Very accurate. Corrections are dated and noted in a specific "correction" field when updates are made to the original database.
QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES USED:
Original report is reviewed by staff for accuracy and completeness. Latitude and Longitude is checked via GIS and original reports for accuracy and updated accordingly.
ATTRIBUTE ACCURACY, LOGICAL CONSISTENCY, COMPLETENESS & LINEAGE:
All records are updated monthly and verified month by month. Reports are generated partially by person collecting animal -- initial observer is notified for location verification. Reports are reviewed and completed at the Pathobiology Laboratory after necrospy is completed. Reports are finalized, CC and mailed to interested parties, and updated to the main database approximately once a month.

Database consists of all West Indian Manatees found dead in Florida and the U.S. (Trichechus manatus). Data includes cause of death, locations (regions) and general morphmetrics of each recovered manatee.
