DATABASE ABSTRACT (A brief summary of the data set):
FBIC does not currently create any databases of its own; it simply functions to help identify databases which have been created by an indiviual or organization/agency. See the list of databases in the field mult.dbs.
PURPOSE OF THE DATABASE:
The Consortium is a group of Scientists and librarians who are committed to identifying and making available to researchers information that deals with Florida's biota. The Consortium has developed a printed FBIC Directory and a Web site (see email contact address) which lists identified databases. The information on coverage, contact person, constraints on use, etc. are listed under each of the databases. The Web site also lists Florida and non-Florida biotic sites which could be useful to researchers working in Florida.

The Consortium has developed a printed FBIC Directory and a Web site (http//nervm.nerdc.ufl.edu/~biota) which lists identified databases. See the list of databases in the Abstract.

FBIC does not currently create any databases of its own; it simply functions to help identify databases which have been created by an individual or organization/agency. In the future, we hope to have a Web server that will provide searchable access to some of the databases which have been identified.
