DATABASE NAME StreamNet
DATABASE ACRONYMS
DATABASE ABSTRACT (A brief summary of the data set):
Contains regionally consistent data on anadromous fish, including distribution and abundance, natural and hatchery production, harvest and habitat, and hatchery facility information. Also contains information on resident fish distribution in Idaho, information on stream reaches protected from hydropower development, and information on existing hydropower projects.
PURPOSE OF THE DATABASE:
To consolidate, maintain, and enhance a high-quality regional and statewide set of aquatic fish and wildlife data that is directly applicable to regional and statewide policy, planning, and management.

DATA ACCURACY:
DATA QUALITY INFORMATION (How accurate is the information?):
Field data is accurate. Distribution data based upon available studies and biologists knowledge of stream reaches.
QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES USED:
Data error checked upon entry, experts review of distribution maps, feedback from users. Pick lists are used for data entry or data translation to ensure that coded data items are members of specific sets. Data is grouped to allow it to be reviewed in manageable components.
ATTRIBUTE ACCURACY, LOGICAL CONSISTENCY, COMPLETENESS & LINEAGE:
Most of the data is organized around trends: a stream segment which is surveyed for a stock, year after year. Trends are geographically standardized on the EPA reach number system. Some data, like redd counts and hatchery release numbers, are very accurate. Harvest data is an estimate based on angler participation and is inherently less accurate. Data extends from the 1960's to present for Idaho chinook; 1970's on for steelhead.
