DATABASE ABSTRACT (A brief summary of the data set):
The NHIS is cooperatively supported and maintained by the Natural Heritage and Nongame Research Program, the Minnesota County Biological Survey, and the Nongame Wildlife Program of the Section of Wildlife.
PURPOSE OF THE DATABASE:
The purpose of the NHIS is to effectively manage and distribute information on Minnesota's rare plants, animals, natural communities, and geologic features. The information assists DNR personnel, other government agencies, and the public in planning for the protection and management of the state's biological diversity.
