DATABASE ABSTRACT (A brief summary of the data set):
Contains accounts for each of the vertebrates and some of the invertebrates of New Mexico and Arizona; approximately 1,250 accounts. Information includes: taxonomy, legal status, distribution, life history, food habits, environmental associations, habitat associations, management practices and references. Distribution information is by county, some legal boundaries (e.g., National Forests) and hydrologic units for aquatic species.
PURPOSE OF THE DATABASE:
Wildlife-related management (including NEPA), research, education, and public information.

NM Game and Fish Dept is responsible for managing the states wildlife and providing information about the states wildlife.
