| Several conclusions can be drawn from the creation of this current, consistent, statewide land cover map: Mapping this large of an area requires great flexibility and also knowledge of the entire range of landscapes. A map like this can be created within approximately 10 months on personal computers (windows-based software was used). Large amounts of ground data are always required, both for classification training and accuracy assessment. This can be obtained from a variety of sources. Aerial videography has resulted in a very efficient technique for gathering large amounts of ground data.
