Finally, this map is applicable to a plethora of natural resource issues. Some examples of uses, besides the further mapping of the VAGAP project, include: evaluating watersheds, identifying large blocks of interior forests, planning the effects of new powerlines and/or pipelines, modeling the spread of gypsy moths, and identifying areas for black bear denning. A general land cover map such as this is even more valuable when combined with other information layers in a GIS modeling context.
