ft.; color is dark gray on back and sides, has very fine bristles on
baleen (about 0.1 mm in diameter); tall falcate dorsal fin; single head
ridge *1043*; REPRODUCTION: breeding season is in November; gestation
period is 12 months; 1 offspring/reproductive period; 1 reproductive
period/year; age of sexual maturity is 1.5 years for both males and
females *1048*; BEHAVIOR: species often travel in groups of 2-5, but may
concentrate in large numbers at feeding sites; seasonal movements are
not well known; young are weaned at about 5 months *1043,1048*
