LIFE HISTORY
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: length=2.4-2.7 m; males 20-30 cm
longer than females; weight=0.000006 X length(EXP 3.062), weight is in
kg and length is in cm; fins are triangular and slightly curved; width
of tail is 1/5 body length; dark blue dorsum, white ventrum,
distinguished by a black stripe running from the rostrum to the eye, and
from the eye to the anus; a line runs from the flipper to the eye, the
eye is circled by these stripes; vertebral formula C7+T15+L22+Ca35=79;
dental formula 45/43-50/49; phalangeal formula I1; II9-10; III7; IV4; V2

the spring and one in the fall; gestation period is 12 months; 1
offspring/reproductive period/3 years; males mature at 9 years and

known in this area; gregarious, found in large groups, sometimes up to
3000 individuals; groups sometimes divided by sex or age, young are
