The following list of species will be included in the initial gap analysis in Virginia. This list was provided by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF). Staff at VDGIF are developing draft potential distribution maps for these species using habitat associations and distribution data in the Virginia Fish and Wildlife Information System. The draft potential distribution maps will be reviewed by taxonomic experts in the Commonwealth for accuracy and completeness before final versions are produced. The maps will display potential distribution because distribution data for all species is incomplete, and the maps will be based on models of habitat affinities. An error assessment will be performed on these maps as a part of the Virginia Gap Analysis Project by comparing predictions with independent survey data.
