From Stoss, 2/17/2000: Folks might want to be aware of a serious loss of environmental
information with the temporary closing of the EPA's Web site (yes, the
entire site is down for an indefinite period of time). This may have some
temporary ramifications for EPA's eMail also. If you need something
critical, CALL the EPA: 202-260-8674 (the Headquarters reference number)
or the EPA information locator at 202-260-2090.

Just a reminder of a tool provided free of charge by the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service, Division of Federal Aid. The Division of Federal Aid
works with state agencies to restore fish and wildlife resources using
funds from excise taxes collected on hunting and fishing equipment and
motorboat fuel taxes. Research reports from state projects are provided to
the Fish and Wildlife Reference Service, and can be accessed on the web at:

Dee Mazzarese Photos are avaialble:
For wildlife images in the public domain, two sites to start with
are the USFWS Image Library and the NOAA Photo Galleries:
In general, their artistic merit is somewhat wanting; but there are
still some great photos to be found with a little searching--especially
from the NOAA collection, which is the more extensive and carefully
designed of the two.
There are also a number of excellent wildlife photographers with
online galleries who are quite willing to give permission for one-time
use, especially to student groups or nonprofit organizations. Offering
photo credit and a link to their website usually works fine--and if not,
just be creative! (One photographer waived his usual fee in exchange
for a box of genuine Texas pralines.)Other sites:
http://corbis.com - lots and lots of photos, about 3$/ea
http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/ - fewer photos, free with permission
