Assignment 3
1. Read and study Antler Points Introduction, and The Deer Group of Lasting Forests item 137 in the Gamma Theory Contents unit. Consider further the enterprise based faunal resource system. The Deer Group is a design for such a system. There are only 2 things in the world, design and ------? (from assigned reading, Chapter 1 in Forest Faunal Systems.) Then...?
Write to me a letter (formal, e-mail) accepting or rejecting my offer (hypothetical) to you to become a paid employee of the The Deer Group as a system. Make whatever assumptions that are necessary but concentrate on the resource, company, future potentials, not on your present health, financial conditions, or questions about where to live, etc. The thoughtfulness of the reply, including understanding of the system and use of the previous course material will be rewarded. Acceptance is not required but a courteous, thoughtful, well-explained "let-down" is acceptable if that is your choice.
Read and study item 24 of Contents discussing research and the rationally robust. Equifinality, item 29, is a part of that concept. Study it too.
Read and study Feedback, item 31 in the Contents
Now apply feedback to instruction. Which is better, to teach equifinality first, then the rationally robust concept, ot present them in reverse order...general to the specific? Write a brief for your preference (1 page max). I need to teach both concepts; in which order should I present them for greatest effectiveness? I have a small system with a clear objective, 2 inputs, and I want to control the system - to change it or keep it like it is. Write to me a reasoned preference.
Skim over the list of textbooks available in wildlife management. (Item 19 in Contents.) This is for general awareness and historical perspective...and ability to guide the public or potential employees to greater understanding of the resource. No note, etc., is required of you for this element of the assignment.
