Assignment 7

Please read the piece in the Appendix (2) of Forest Faunal Systems by Dr. Scanlon of the wildlife department. It is an unusual piece, not likely to ever find a place in a classical widlife journal. It is included to stimulate thought "outside of the box." Please write a few sentences about what the article seems to say to you.

Please read Chapter 17 in Forest Faunal Systems. This is about game theory, an example of a major process that can be used within faunal resource systems work. It is difficult for some people so I want you to understand "saddle point", minimax, and to be aware of the 4 major decision strategies. There are programs available on Monday March 15, 1999 that many of you will find interesting if not useful. You'll need this knowledge for later.

Read the Law Enforcement chapter (14). The long lists within it suggest the potential complexity of the wildlife law enforcement operations. Concentrate on this as a subsystem. Be able to name the parts of any system and relate them to the parts of this system. Write to me a few lines about where feedforward fits in. That chapter will show up in the next assignment.
