Assignment 9

Please work through the computer units (at least 5; your choice)on wildlife law enforcement.

Read the brief chapter on Cumulative Impacts (Chap 16). This is a serious problem and will become more difficult. In the past agencies etc have filed small impact statements. No one created a serious hazzard but collectively ( as with powerlines and highways) they were reough on the environment. Much more work needs to be done in this area. Any creative thoughts or recent reading on this topic for the good of the class?

Read Chapter 13. Some claim that widlife management is 90 percent people mgmt (and have done so since at least before 1958). Human dimensions is a favirite term these days. Perhaps there will emerge a movement. "Changing human behavior" is the key message in this chapter.

Everything seem related but keep in mind as scientist and modern wildlifer, we want evidence of statistically significant change...or why engage in the activity? Change attitudes some say, but after the attitude is changed, then what behavior behavior do we expect to see? This may seem Skinerian but it is not a bad starting point.

Name 5 behaviors you might expect to want to change on an intensive wildlife management area. (Be sure they are measureable, for which there may be management options, and how you would evaluate each).

A figure is missing but please study G009 Ecosystem Management: An Analysis
