Paying for This Site

The Fish and Wildlife Information System at Virginia Tech hosted this site for me after my retirement. Fearing the instability of that organization, staff, and the Department itself, and loss of files or support for my website efforts, I moved the site to a private server late in 1999 (Rapid Systems, Inc., Tampa Florida).

I shall be happy to ad banner advertisements or notices within any of the Lasting Forests files. Fees from such banners will help stabilize the system, hopefully for a while after I am gone. I have added an Amazon.com page to make book ordering easy for users and to gain a modest commission from such orders placed through this web site. Such funds, as well as those gained from commissions from product sales (when they simply include my IBO number when they order any products from Quixtar) will all be used to support this website.

The funds will be distributed as follows:

one half go to website development efforts of www.arimbey.com.
one half go, as follows to...
- support of graduate students within Virginia Tech to work on projects that will enhance Lasting Forests and encourage creation of The Line.
- contributions to the R.H. Giles undergraduate scholarship in the Department of Fisheries and Widldife Sciences at Virginia Tech which was created by his daughters upon his 60th birthday.

Further development of Lasting Forests is needed and opportunities exist for financial support of graduate student projects that do so and that also provide grantors significant tax-related benefits. These are available through the Department Head, Dept. of Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, and through Dr. Richard Oderwald, Dept. Forestry, Virginia Tech and the university Office of Development.
