| The materials presented within this disc were developed by Robert H. Giles, Jr., Ph.D, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. They were first made available to students in a "distance-learning" course in 1998 and have been revised and produced on a CD and distance-learning course in 2007. They have been prepared by him (except as noted) and under continual development for 35 years. Many were presented to his students during his conventional class meetings at Tech during that time as "handouts," lectures, and processed class notes. The material and units are intended for individual use but especially in Internet-related students and faculty exchanges.
Rural System is an enterprise being designed by Giles. The course is offered in a collaborative project of Virginia Tech and theNatural Resource Distance Learning Consortium led by Dr. Gary Evans (gaevans1@vt.edu). The objective of the CD is to cause significant behavioral change in students, cost effectively, to the end that the wild faunal resources of the world will be better managed. You are encouraged to communicate with the author for corrections and improvements of all types to that end. The major current use of this site is for information about and instruction in Modern Wildlife Management (NR 5984 and CRN 16551). |
