Peculiar Manor

Peculiar Manor is an introduction to the life of the forest and its management. Dr. Giles has spent over 40 years teaching and studying this unique world. While living in a log cabin in the woods he wrote the draft of this book.

Now he has put the finishing touches onto the manuscript, added pictures and graphics, and is making it available as a Compact Disk (CD) textbook. Although it is intended as an introduction to the forest and its management, it is both enjoyable and an easy read. The forest land owner, hunter, fisherman, environmentalist, and student alike will find that this book will make their next venture into the woods much more enjoyable.

Written from his log cabin near Salem, Virginia, and the Havens Wildlife Management Area, the essays are collected as Peculiar Manor. The 708-page e-book was developed by Bob's friend, Hayward Shepherd who is also committed to improved natural resource management. The CD contains a Table of Contents which is actively linked to the chapters and key headings in the text. The standard PDF format was chosen because it is compatible, cross platform, and comes with virtually all computers today. The PDF Reader software is available for free. It can be found at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat. The CD is also compatible with standard e-book Readers. It is not compatible with the non-standard Microsoft Reader.
