A Total Forest Management Plan

Coyote is the name of a potential enterprise for an individual or group of land owners. It is an enterprise related to the coyote and wild canids, such as wolves and foxes. Like the Owl Group, the enterprise is devoted to superior population management, to studies, and to increased net benefits form the canid resource.
The activities, similar to the other mentioned enterprises, include:
The coyote can be a powerful resource of the Forests and major contributions can be made by it to the resource base of the Rural System. The concept includes that of net benefits and the coyote represents potential losses in the deer populations, and several other system components. Seeing and hearing them is part of the rural experience. They can reach unregulated, high numbers and therewith impinge upon other resources such as deer and turkeys and especially the reptile fauna. Much information about them is now available but research may be an important part of the group activity.
This enterprise may take nightly truck and bus tours of guests into the wilds. They will hear and experience the coyotes. Binoculars, telescopes, and night-vision will augment the views. Entertainment and education will typically cap off an exiting evening especially designed for tour groups. Memberships will be arranged; research encouraged; and potentially major advances made in ecosystem principles by a concentration on this top predator. Occasional conferences will be held. Visits will be coordinated with other Ranch events.
Resolving the role of the coyote is unlikely. It now spreads into the East, opening new opportunities for Coyote chapters around the U.S. It will relate to the food management of owls. It may become the only major factor limiting deer populations and their effects on endangered plants. It will slow the expansion of wild turkey populations.
