A Total Forest Management Plan

The amount and quality of drinking water available to workers and potential users of the area need to be planned early. Wells and access to water sources need to be planned, scheduled, and signs and trails constructed to assure proper use of all sites where safe water becomes available. Unsafe water needs to be fenced or protected and well-signed. Above-water areas need to be protected so that they will not contaminate the water supplies or the areas where water is gained.
It is believed (2002) that 1/2 gallon of water per person per day is the physical need but 400 gallons per day per person is the current societal use. New studies were reported to be underway in 2002, restudying the 8 glasses of water per day per person rule.
