Moisture Relations

An interesting moisture relation derives from fog drip, but that is just one of many profound relations of trees and other plants and animals called "forests."

Within your forest (modified units removed), there are the following moisture classes present:
Moisture
Class
Stand
Number
Area
(acres)
Proportion
of Area
Dry 12
09
06

Moist
(Mesic)
03
13
11

Wet 02
06

The Modified Simpson Index of moisture diversity is xx.x. It the stands were perfectly evenly distributed among the three classes, the index would be 100. Minor preference is given (for example within Maryland tract preservation efforts) to preserving forest stands that are moist or dry but all types are valued.

Under Development:

Extracts from Klopfers evapotranspiration rate GIS maps.

Quotes from Heikkenen's work on bark beetles.

Land classes based on Holdridge's triangular chart.

Soil realtions associated with moisture.
