Gifts, Honoraria, and Memorials

There are many occasions on which gifts should be made. It just feels right to do so. These may be for family members, loyal workers, team members, neighbors...almost anyone. Remember the feelings produced by your last gift from someone? It is a good feeling. There need not be special days to promote gift giving. In truth, the unexpected gift is better for its unexpectedness.

Consider banding together, pooling funds, to provide pleasing lasting gifts such as presenting to someone:

• a scholarship in their name
• a sign with their name that will be placed on a favorite re-named trail (or one to be built)
• a book on a wildland topic commissioned to be written and dedicated to them
• a sign with their name, naming a wildlife waterhole or pond to be created
• a structure for chimney swifts
• a research project funded and results acknowledged in their name
• a new unit of the Species-Specific Management section of this Web page (one of likely interest to the person but of lasting value to many others)

In some cases, staff of The Trevey can assist in arranging tax benefits for such gifts.

Not opposed to giving flowers, candy, or pen and pencil sets, we suggest that the following gifts will be more appreciated, more noteworthy, and more likely to have news or media appeal than conventional gifts...and will provide long, deep-seated, and pleasant memories, as well as their long service functions:

• Owl nest boxes
• Grouse drumming logs
• planted wildlife food borders (a certain number of feet being given)
• bluebird and other designed nest boxes
