Gamma Theory
Modern Wild Faunal Resource Management
Learning Together, Working Together...
Autodidactics
Gamma Theory, a code phrase for the concepts, principles, rules, and algorithms for actively managing and changing modern wild faunal resource systems, is a large complex and complicated field. Learning it is difficult. Knowing when it has been learned is also difficult. Tests of knowledge may aid in judging whether a person has the elements and the decision processes needed to act in ways that experts in gamma theory would judge to be proper, perhaps superior. Tests concentrate learning efforts, suggest key elements, allow progress to be assessed, and allow performance to be assessed relative to a standard and to other participants in mastering Gamma Theory. Acknowledged up front, tests are limited (as is the test designer). Often, only memory of word-meaning or the depth of the personal knowledgebase is tested. What is desired is knowledge about whether a person can use such words or factors well in field situations. Admitting the limitation, autodidactics works on the words, "facts", figures, definitions, and principles, assuming that if these are present, at least there is then the potential for sound action in the field and office where the real work must be done. Without a demonstration of such knowledge, work judged to be sound, informed, and responsible would seem unlikely...perhaps due to chance.
The following questions are designed to assist you in mastering Gamma Theory. It is likely that formal tests and exams will have a similar appearance, wording, and presentation. The questions allow a response (click on one of the optional answers that you think is correct). You will find out immediately about the correctness of your answer and in most cases, the reason(s) why it is improper. In some cases you will be "wrong" but more often there are shades of correctness. Always try to select the best among the options presented.
You may use the autodidactic units as often as you like. While test and exam questions may be similar or even identical to those contained here, it is likely to be unwise to spend excessive time here. Use these as sample questions. Return to previous class notes. Review text books. Re-read assigned materials. The presentations made within this site assume a high level of interest, dedication, prior education, or experience. Master the materials of the Lasting Forests, particularly Gamma Theory.
