In Kentucky primary food items during winter and spring were fescue (Festuca sp.), bluegrass (Poa. sp.), panic grass (Panicum), and manna grass (Glycera striata). In Virginia, broomsedge made up the major part of the summer diet, while mosses were eaten more in winter. Endogone sp., a fungus has been reported or several occassions from Synaptomys stomach *PA10176:3*. It principal food is green, succulent grasses and sedges *9133*. The winter food is unknown *131*.
