Education Committee

The Wildlife Society hopes to enhance environmental awareness through science, social studies, and even English lessons by introducing topics through visual, hands-on, and interactive programs. For instance, 5th grade classes have received poetry lessons while learning to observe trees, and 6th grade science classes have performed spaghetti jar experiments to demonstrate the effects of wildland fires.

The concepts covered in each program incorporate the listed Standards of Learning (SOL’s) for the state of Virginia and can be customized for particular grade levels (we work with 3rd through 6th grade classes). These outreach programs are designed to be convenient for teachers and fun and educational for local students.
